I have had a deep love for Egyptian art ever since I was a young boy. As soon as I started painting and wood burning skate decks it was a no brained to paint a winged scarab on one as well. The Egyptian Scarab is referred to as Ra, the creator of the universe. It is believed that the Scarab was an amulet of protection against disease and death. It is also interpreted as a symbol of resurrection. So, not only did the Scarab protect the wearer while they were alive, but when placed next to the dead it meant they could be resurrected and attain eternal life.
